Vernon Zeller's Obituary
Vernon (Vernie) Bernard Zeller, age 88 of Pilot Grove Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 3rd, 2025, at Katy Manor, Pilot Grove, Missouri. He was happily married to the love of his life, Barbara (Gross) Zeller for 68 years who passed away June 22, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella Sophia (Twenter) and Leonard Zeller as well as his three siblings, Delores Birch, Leonard J. Zeller, Alice Bestgen, and grandchild Andrew Zeller.
Vernon graduated from Pilot Grove High School in 1954 and was married on June 2, 1956, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He is survived by his four children: Barbie Nolte from Boonville, Mo, Donna Strope (Keith), Chesterfield, Mo, Chris Zeller (Vickie), Boonville Mo, Paula Zeller (Tom McElroy), Inlet Beach, Fl.
Vernon loved spending time with his family and friends and was well respected by all who knew him. He began his career as a dedicated iron worker and, through perseverance and determination became a successful entrepreneur and businessman founding Zeller Marine, Engine Connection, and a Texaco Convenience Store. He retired and enjoyed spending time at their two vacation homes in Tucson, Az and Branson, Mo.
He was known as PaPa to his seven grandchildren, C.J Zeller (Allison), Anna Darnell (Trent), EmmaLea Nolte, Michelle Zeller, Jordan Strope (Elizabeth), Justine Groff (Michael) and Caroline Collins (Matt). He also loved his fourteen great-grandchildren.
Dad was happiest when he spent time with his family and friends and found joy in flying his plane an Ultralight, often soaring above the very landscape and home he adored. He took immense pride in his home, which brought him peace and joy. He loved to read and enjoyed being physically fit and healthy. Vernon needed to stay busy and always had multiple projects and enjoyed seeing them complete.
Vernie will be terribly missed and is deeply loved. His presence, wisdom and adventurous spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
