Mattie Grace Roberts' Obituary
Mattie Grace Roberts, 73, of Columbia, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, December 23, 2016, at North Kansas City Hospice in Kansas City. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Urban Empowerment Church at 12:30 PM. Visitation will be from 11:30-12:30 PM at the church. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Victorious Life Church, 3400 Paseo Blvd. Kansas City, MO 64152.
Mattie Grace Primus-Roberts was born on August 1, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan. She was the third child of five children born to Ben and Corrine Primus. She attended public school in Broseley, Missouri and Wheatley High School. She later attended and graduated nursing school with an LPN license. Mattie married William Leon Roberts on September 24, 1960, and to this union seven children were born. Together they lived in Poplar Bluff, Missouri; St. Louis, Missouri; Jefferson City, Missouri; Columbia, Missouri and she later moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She worked in nursing until she retired from the University of MO Medical Center-Columbia in 2001. Her husband preceded her in death in 2002.
Mother Roberts was a member of United Community Cathedral and was on the mother board while residing in Columbia, Missouri. She later moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 2007 and became a member of Victorious Life Church where she participated in the VLC youth mentoring program, and was secretary of the Home Missions and Wednesday Prayer ministry. Mother Roberts also had a personal Prison ministry outreach that she was active in until her death.
Mattie lived her life wholly dedicated to God and her family in which she clearly demonstrated God’s pure and unwavering love. All who were fortunate enough to have truly known her were blessed by her unconditional love and open heart. She was the rock, the glue, the light to her family and friends. She was known and will be remembered by her thoughtfulness and unselfish giving. This truly was her legacy... How she shaped the hearts and spirits of others with the touch of God’s love. Her essence will live on through those who were blessed and fortunate enough have known this wonderful woman.
She leaves her surviving siblings: Ben Primus (Rosie), Thomas Primus (Alice), Lula Vinson (Leo) and Glenwood Primus.
Her surviving children are: Sheena Roberts, Alicia Roberts-Curtis (Richard), Mattie ‘Grace’ Roberts-Pearl, (Maurice), William Roberts, Jr, Lueveria Roberts-Huerta (Christopher), Maurice Roberts and Enoch Roberts.
Her legacy included 15 Grandchildren: Michael D, Raticia C, Cocoa J, Montez G, Dontez G, Edward P, Maurice Jr P, Whitney R, Sierra R, Anessa H, Moriah H, Isabella H, Alexander C, Aaron R, Maurisa R and Ariana M, as well as, 11 Great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
