Frankie A
To the family,
First, I just want to say how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Marquitta — or Quita, as we all called her — was a part of my childhood that I will always cherish.
Back in 7th and 8th grade, her brother Brian and I were really close friends. I spent the night at your house a few times, and every time I was there, I was made to feel so welcome. That kindness has stayed with me all these years.
One memory I will never forget: Brian once asked if I wanted to ride to Columbia with the family. It was me, Brian, KiKi, Eunice, Hubba, and Quita. On the way back, Eunice said, "Let's go to McDonald's." When it was time for me to order, Eunice looked at me and said, "Frankie, get whatever you want, hun." I shyly said, "Oh, I'll just have a hamburger, fries, and a Coke." Everyone burst out laughing, and Quita looked at me and said, "Boy, you know you want more than that!"
We all laughed, but what stayed with me was the warmth and love behind it — especially from Quita. To this day, whenever I go to McDonald's, that moment comes back to me, and it always makes me smile.
I know you will miss her so much, but please know she still lives on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. I'm sure you all carry so many memories that, even through the sadness, will still bring you comfort and smiles — just like mine does.
With love and sympathy,
Frankie
