Kathryn Rayford's Obituary
Kathryn Rayford, of Sedalia, transitioned to glory on Saturday April 26, 2014 in Sedalia. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 2, 2014 at 11 am at Ward Memorial Baptist Church in Sedalia. A visitation will be held from 5:30 pm – 7 pm on Thursday May 1, 2014 at Ward Memorial Baptist Church.
Kathryn was born on May 30, 1930 in Sedalia, Missouri the daughter of the late Columbus and Cleopatra Gooch and wife of the late Wendell Rayford.
Kathryn attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from CC Hubbard High School. She received her B.S. degree from Lincoln University, Jefferson City in 1952.
She taught in the Sedalia School System for 30 years.
Kathryn, affectionately known as the “Roadrunner,” was very involved in the community and her church. She was a member of Ward Memorial Missionary Baptist Church for the majority of her life. She loved giving of her self and bringing joy to people through her music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter Belinda D. Boyd.
She is survived by her daughter Reesa Rayford, son-in-law Jimmy Boyd, four grandsons, James (Brenda), Wendell, Brandon (Mary) and Dean Boyd and 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.
