Engelbert Ssekasozi's Obituary
Engelbert Ssekasozi, 73, of Columbia, passed into eternal life on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, October 30, 2010 at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. Visitation will be from 11-1PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Engelbert Ssekasozi was born November 7, 1936 in Kampala, Uganda in East Africa the son of Francix Xavier Matovu and Anna Maria Nabitaka. He attended Wright’s Temple in Columbia. He was an Alumni of the University of Kansas where he received a PHd in adult education and he was an alumni of the University of Missouri where he received a PHd in Philosophy, he also received a Master’s degree from the University of Kansas and a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee. He received a Law Degree from the University of LaSalle in Chicago and studied for ten years to become a Catholic Priest in Uganda. He retired after 30 years from the Lincoln University as an Emeritus Professor of Philosophy. At Knoxville college he won an award for being the best professor.
On September 7, 1963 he was married to Phyllis E. Hale and she survives of the home.
He leaves to cherish his memory his Wife Phyllis of the home, three sons Joseph Ssekasozi, John Ssekasozi and Charles Ssekasozi all of Columbia, Mo., and three daughter-in-laws Mila Ssekasozi, Anita Ssekasozi and Joanie Ssekasozi., three sister-in-laws Dorothy Anderson and Patricia Hale both of Knoxville, Tn., and Rose Hale of Phoenix, AZ., two brother-in-laws James L. Leon and William M. Hale both of Knoxville, TN. special friends Elder and Mother Morris of Knob Noster, Mo., Phineas and LaGreta Gitta of Kansas City, KS., Joseph and Specioza Matovu of Kansas City, Mo., Joe and Vicky Kazito of Atlanta, GA., Dr, Frank Wright of Kansas City, Mo., Elder and Sister Stapleton of Columbia, MO., Elder and Mother Barksdale of Columbia, Mo., Vicky Anannamena and Sylester Ayuntu of Columbia, Mo., Masomie Amad of Jefferson CIty, MO. Jackie Olebe of Cleveland, OH., Sister Geraldine Coleman of Columbia, Mo., Sister Lena Jones of Columbia, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gray, Sister Lumpy, Sister Leach, all of Columbia, Mo., Elder and Sister Buckner of St. Louis, Mo., Bishop Ward and Kennerly Temple COGIC of St. Louis, Mo., Monument of Grace COGIC and Wright Temple COGIC.
