Yvonnda Freelon's Obituary
Our beloved mother , Yvonnda Freelon “Bonnie “ , passed away Friday March 13th, surrounded by loved ones. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 12:00 PM at St. Paul AME Church in Columbia.
Born on October 27, 1955 to Jerry and Myrtle Ellis, Bonnie lived a life filled with love, her family and most of all music ,music and more music.
Bonnie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She had a special relationship with her grandson Cameron. Bonnie had a wonderful career with Columbia public schools where she gained forever friends and touched the lives of many children.
Bonnie is survived by her 2 sons Garrett and Anthony Turner, her grandson Cameron Turner, daughter in laws Jaime Turner and Angela Newsom . She also leaves behind her aunt Shirley Freelon of Columbia,Mo, 3 brothers and 1 sister , Gerry Ellis and Randy Ellis of Green Bay WI, Jerrod Ellis and Raeann Marshall of Columbia MO along with a host of nieces,nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jerry and Myrtle Ellis, 2 brothers Jerry Ellis jr ( Night Rider) , William Freelon ( Freeze) and her sister Tammy Freelon.
As a longtime resident of Columbia, MO she had many,many friends who will miss her.
