Wilma Bush's Obituary
Wilma Bush, 58, of Fayette surrendered her soul to Christ on Monday, June 13, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 11:00 am at Holy Ground Church of God in Christ in Fayette, burial in Fayette City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 am Saturday at the church.
Wilma was born August 8, 1952 in Fayette, MO. She was the daughter of Melissa Graves and Wesley Bentley. She attended Lincoln School and was a 1970 graduate of Fayette High School. Wilma was united in marriage to John Lee Bush, May 23, 1982. Wilma was as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and a Certified Restorative Aide. She worked for many years at Fayette Caring Center, Phillips Home and the Braun Home.
Under the leadership of Rev. Leon Hannah, Wilma dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of Holy Ground Christian Tabernacle, Fayette, MO. where she continued her work for the Lord under the leadership of the late, Elder R.C. Paige and Pastor Denise V. Johnson.
Wilma leaves to treasure her memory, her husband, her daughter, Melissa (Glenn) Ganaway of Fayette, MO, Her sons, John L. Bush, of Columbia, MO and Jerry L. (Jasma) Bush of Boonville, MO. She also leaves to embrace her memory, her grandchildren LeKeea Graves, Columbia, MO, DeVonte Graves, Fayette, MO and Dez’zon Bush, Boonville, MO. Two great-grandchildren A’kiraa Lee and Raashad Lee, Jr. of Columbia, MO.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her mother, her sisters, Mary Ann (Leroy) Broadus, Fayette, MO, Mina Graves, Columbia, MO and Christine (Raymond) Smith of Columbia, MO. Her brothers, Chester Graves, Fayette, MO, Marvin (Ruthann) Graves, Pilot Grove, MO, Robert (Peggy) Graves, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Ronald Graves, Boonville, MO.
Wilma shared a special relationship with her great-niece, Makayla Barnette and her nephew, Jason Broadus. She also leaves to honor her memory a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Wilma was preceded in death by her father, two brothers, Melvin Graves and Melvin Gibson and one sister, Felicia Gibson- Jones.
Because of Wilma’s childhood fun with mud pies, she was affectionately called “Dirt” by family and friends. Wilma loved to play cards and could often be found enjoying a game of Gin Rummy with her daughter. She also loved sitting on her front porch while laughing and enjoying the company of her sons. Wilma loved and enjoyed her daily phone conversations with her mother. She loved reading her Bible, crocheting, Word Search and Jigsaw puzzles. Wilma also shared with her great-niece, Makayla that her favorite color was blue. Wilma always had words of wisdom and encouragement for everyone she knew and loved.
