Wilbert "Jimmy" Conway's Obituary
Wilbert "Jimmy" Conway, 73, of Marshall, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at The Living Center in Marshall. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Boonville at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 12-1PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Wilbert James Conway was born on October 9, 1950. He was born to the union of Wilbert Conway and Martha Ward Conway in Marshall, MO.
He grew up in Slater, MO and attended Alexander Elementary School and graduated from Slater High School in 1969.
Jimmy as he was affectionately known enjoyed life. He was always smiling and happy and never met a stranger. He loved to talk. Jim also loved to cook and bake. He also enjoyed helping others. After graduating Jimmy left home to go to work in the oil fields of Oklahoma. He returned to MO working various jobs until he found his favorite, driving 18 wheelers for over 42 years in MO and Kansas. He loved to keep up with the NASCAR races. He also loved the Ford Mustang cars and owned at least 4 of them. He also liked the older model of cars.
Jim became ill in May of 2023 and courageously fought a bout with cancer. During this time he never complained. He became a resident of the Living Center of Marshall, MO in August of 2023 and passed away there on November 22,2023.
Jim leaves to mourn his passing 4 brothers, Michael Conway of Marshall, MO, David Conway of Jonesboro, Georgia, Kevin (Aleia) of Columbia, MO and Richard L. Conway of St. Joseph, MO. 3 sisters, Sandra (Sam) Moten, Marshall, MO, Elizabeth (Don) Linn Creek, MO and Penelope Butler of St. Louis, MO. Rev. Keith Hopkins, Rev. Dale Hopkins, Christi (Darryl) Ervin and Kay D. Hopkins. He is survived by his children Toussaint Maxwell of the State of California, Stephen Kyle of Georgia, Leslea Martin, Columbia, MO, Jamie Hedger, Springfield, MO, James A. Conway, Columbia, MO and Joseph Michael Conway of Troy, MO. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Nathan Conway and a sister Rose Marie Conway in infancy.
Memorials may be made to the North Street United Methodist Church of Marshall, MO.
