Wesley "Dion" Taylor's Obituary
Wesley "Dion" Taylor, 47, of Des Moines, IA, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at his home. Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:30 AM at Merle Hay Funeral Home in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 10-11:30 AM at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 12:00 PM at St. Matthews AME Church in Boonville. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the church.
Dion was born on May 25, 1972 in Columbia. His parents are Evangelist Pam Taylor and Harold Dean Mcquitty.
Dion was raised in Boonville by his mother. Growing up in Boonville he was lovingly called "Dilly" by his friends and family.
Dion truly loved his family and friends. In his childhood he loved playing baseball. All of life he was connected to baseball, as a child he played starting at the age of six. As an adult living in Des Moines, he was a baseball coach, as well as umpiring in and around the Des Moines area.
On July 12, 1997, he married Kay Kaiser, and she survives of the home. To that union they birthed a son, Westin Taylor. He also was father to Kay's other children that he considered his own, Whitney (Ismael) Prieto, Dominck (Stephanie) Lee, A.J. (Allison) Lee. He also leaves behind five granddaughters who he truly loved with all his heart!.
He also leaves to cherish his memories his mother and father, his in-laws Ed and Judy Kaiser, his sisters Prestina Taylor-Clark of Boonville, Tia Hemmingway-Watford of Atlanta, GA, Sharonne Carr, and a brother Howard Huston. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many childhood friends.
He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
