Weldon Cunningham's Obituary
Weldon “Leslie” Cunningham, a devoted husband, loving father, proud veteran, and cherished member of the Bunceton community, passed away peacefully at home on June 24, 2026.
Leslie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Mae Cunningham, who passed in April 2025. Their partnership, built on loyalty, laughter, and shared purpose, remains a lasting testament to their love.
He is survived by his loving son, daughter, son‑in‑law, two cherished fur babies, and two grand‑fur babies who brought him endless joy.
Leslie began his adult life in service to his country as a member of the Missouri Army National Guard, where he developed the discipline, pride, and sense of duty that shaped his life. After his service, he poured his heart into building and operating Leslie’s Service Center in Bunceton, Missouri, a business he faithfully ran for more than 50 years. His shop became a community landmark, a place where neighbors gathered, friendships formed, and Leslie’s steady presence made everyone feel welcome.
A man of simple joys and deep passions, Leslie loved tractors, old vehicles, auctions, and the closeness of family and friends. His interests reflected his character, he was hardworking, nostalgic, grounded, and always happiest when surrounded by the people and traditions he cherished.
Leslie also gave generously of his time, serving for many years on the Bunceton Volunteer Fire Department, Bunceton City Council and Bunceton Baptist Church. His dedication to community service left a meaningful and lasting impact on the town he loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to an Alzheimer’s or Dementia charity in Leslie’s honor.
