Virginia Gertrude Crobarker's Obituary
Virginia Gertrude Crobarker, 96, of Sedalia, MO., was welcomed into paradise on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Fairview Nursing home in Sedalia. Services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 1 PM at Burns Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Sedalia. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Alexander-May Funeral Home in Sedalia.
Lovingly known as Gertrude by all she was born in Boonville, Missouri to Sarah and Ellis Poole on May 13, 1920. She attended school in Boonville. She was united in marriage to Felix Crobarker on June 17, 1942. She worked as a teacher for Missouri Valley Community Action agency Head Start for many years. She was involved in her church Burns Chapel as a , youth supervisor, Red, White, & Blue club member, Mother Board member, Circle #2 member and other organizations. She received recognition in the local Sedalia Democrat newspaper and from the NAACP for her work as a Foster parent of 72 children throughout her lifetime in the Sedalia area.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Carol Allison, Theresa Crobarker-Lee, Jeanne Crobarker, and Charlotte Buckner, 1 son Lenford Buckner, 1 sister Hazel Williams, and 2 brothers Earnest Poole and Noah (Cookie) Poole and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by her “special son” Myron Seabury.
Virginia is preceded in death by both parents, her husband Felix, and 3 siblings Richard Poole, Margaret Hollis and John Poole.
