Virgil Eugene Horn Jr.'s Obituary
Virgil Eugene Horn Jr., 55, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away on December 31, 2025. Known to many as “Junior,” Virgil was born on March 11, 1970, to Virgil Eugene Horn Sr. and Annie Mae Horn.
He grew up in Columbia, where he attended elementary school, Oakland Junior High, and Rock Bridge High School. As a teenager, he worked at Skatin’ Station and was actively involved in speed skating.
Virgil was an avid football and basketball fan who proudly cheered for the Philadelphia Eagles, the North Carolina Tar Heels, and his hometown favorite, the Missouri Tigers. He also had a deep passion for cars and motorcycles, and his involvement in car clubs in Columbia led to multiple “Best in Show” awards.
Virgil is survived by brothers, Calvin Hollis (Bobbie Jean) and Marshall Henley; sisters, Willie Carter, Anoctavia “Bay” (Mike) Otis, Carolyn Henley Davis (Marc), Lowis Hollis, Birthe Warrick and Rebecca Horn; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. He shared a particularly special bond with his niece, Ronda Lynn Mitchell, whom he loved immensely.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Emma Anderson; father, Virgil Eugene Horn Sr.; mother, Annie Mae Jones; stepfathers, Willie Hollis and Fred Jones; brothers, Thomas, Jimmy and Isaac Hollis; and sisters, Letha Simmons, Wanda McElrath and Bridget Jones.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Virgil’s honor may be made to Room at the Inn.
