Viola Marie Perry's Obituary
Viola Marie Perry, 59, of Boonville, slept into the arms of Jesus surrounded by her children on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Ashley Manor in Boonville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 12 PM at St. Matthews AME Church in Boonville. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM at the church.
May 17, 1958 Viola Marie Perry, a vocal child that began singing at a young age, was born to Esther Mae (Ellis) Perry and the late Charles Leon Perry. God lifted her to glory on April 27th, 2018. Gone far too soon for all of us, God had a different plan for her.
Her early days were spent down on water street amongst many lifelong friends growing up in Boonville. She enjoyed bouncing on the old railroad ties for hours with her family and friends. Her siblings can recall her despise of carrying loads of laundry to the Spring Street Laundromat. She enjoyed sledding up and down the muddy hills and hiding from her brothers playing hide n seek.
Marie began singing at the age of 8 in her church and with her family ensemble, ‘The Perry Family,’ at various functions around the Boonslick community. As a teenager Marie went solo and began singing at weddings, funerals, churches and other events around the Mid-Missouri area. Marie joined the ‘Sisters of Faith and Company’ and began performing in Jefferson City, St. Louis, Memphis, Des Moines and other cities throughout the Midwest. She was a faithful member, steward and choir member of St. Matthew AME Church. She worked at Nordyne for 20 years, then spent the rest of her working career doing what she loved best, taking care of individuals as a Direct Support Professional at Unlimited Opportunities.
She loved her life as well as her family and friends, especially her mother. She would take the time to do whatever she needed day in and day out. No task was too big for her to take on. After moving back to Missouri from Arizona she became her mother’s live in caretaker. She was always patient in helping out with her mother’s daily routine, they loved shopping together, always kept in touch with one another even while Marie moved out to Arizona and visited her brother Michael in Germany. Marie enjoyed listening to her many of her mother’s infamous sayings.
Marie leaves to cherish her memories: her loving mother Esther Mae (Ellis) Perry of Boonville, MO, sisters Rhodella (KCMO), Charlotte (KCMO), Matonia (Boonville), brothers Michael (Evelyn) Germany, Charles (Brandy) Boonville, two children Karaunda (Duwayne) of Texas, Kolby (Aly) of Columbia and two grandchildren Makiya and Kaleo. She was preceded in death by her father, brother, a nephew, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Marie loved and helped so many people that will miss her and that wonderful God given voice. It’s never Goodbye, but See You Later.
