Rev. Vernell Weston's Obituary
Rev. Vernell "Bo" Weston, 64, of Jefferson City, MO, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2022, at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Second Baptist church in Mexico, MO at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 12-1 PM Saturday at the church.
Vernell Weston came into this world on June 20, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Wilbert Allison and Maudie Bell Vaughn and was then adopted by the late L.B and Josephine Weston. He received his wings on January 4th, where he passed unexpectedly at his home.
Vernell Weston worked at numerous jobs as a cook while later becoming one of many passions. Vernell also had the gift of singing and was known all over surrounding Missouri, beginning with singing in talent and karaoke shows, singing bands to using his voice when called to sing at funerals. Vernell later was called by God to change over his talent of singing to bless others with song through the Gospel, where he sung in gospel groups called, " Perfect Mix", "One Accord" to going out on his own and producing songs with the "Weston Ministry family". Vernell's final curtain was when he formed "Reverance 4 God".
Vernell grew up in Des Moines but later moved to Missouri so that he could be closer to his family. Vernell was a loving husband who loved his children, family, and friends so much. Vernell began his transition at Second Missionary Baptist Church where he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Vernell didn't know it but this is where his transitioning spiritually started. He accepted the call and was licensed February 10th, 2013, at Second Christian Disciples of Christ in Fulton, Mo.
Vernell began preaching and singing all over Mid Mo until he accepted the charge to become Pastor at Second Christian Disciples of Christ in Jefferson City, Mo, where he preached until his time of death. Vernell a loving man to all who knew him, main goal was to lead souls to Christ and loved his church family was so pleased to be their Pastor.
Vernell met his beautiful wife Penny Weston of 23 years. Vernell always told the story how he seen his wife at a very young age and stated, "Momma, I am going to marry her someday". Vernell got his blessing after many years of being together when the tied the knot on June 28th, 2008, and from this union a daughter was born; VerShay Weston both wife and daughter still reside at the home. Vernell loved his children and leaves behind Tracie Wells (Tennessee), Lori Ann Holt, Vernell Holt (Debra), Gayla Weston, Travis Weston (Erica), Veronica McBride, Tonette (Terrance) Luther, Katrina Simpson (Gregory), Demetra Simpson (Lorenzo), Shaun (Tanisha) Simpson (all of Columbia, Mo) and Erica Henderson of St. Louis, Mo.
Vernell had many siblings whom he loved, Tony Johnson, Vicki (Todd) Gardner, (both of Mexico, Mo) Tommy Johnson (Columbia, Mo), Treva Johnson (Willard) of Mexico, Mo, Keith Johnson (Delores) Debra (Charles) Carter, Greg Fugate (all of Columbia, Mo). Latonia Henderson (Davenport, Iowa), Steve Fugate (Seattle, Washington), Deidra Maxwell (Mississippi), D'Angelo Allison (Rock, Island, and Erwin Allison (Hannibal, Mo). Also, his stepmother Patricia Allison of Rock Island, Illinois.
Vernell is also survived by his mother-in-law (Betty Henderson), sister in laws; Sharon (Donnie) Fowler, (Columbia, Mo), Pamela Owens (St. Louis, Mo), Lina (Victor) Hubbard of Houston Texas, Michael Henderson, Marjorie (Charles) Wagner of Lexington, Texas.
Vernell had twenty-five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Vernell leaves behind a very special woman whom he looked up to as his "other mom", Mrs. Mattie Chamber (Jefferson City, Mo. along with a lifelong special friend Ron Howard of St. Louis, Mo.
