Stephen Glynn Sr.'s Obituary
Stephen Glynn Sr., 75, of Columbia, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Boone Hospital Center.
Stephen Wilburn Glynn Sr. was born on November 20, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri to John and Daisy Glynn.
Stephen proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he exhibited remarkable courage and commitment to his country. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of duty and honor, qualities he carried throughout his life.
After his military service, Stephen went on to have a distinguished career as an Air Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration.
Stephen was an active and proud member of the National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees (NBCFAE). His involvement in this organization reflected his deep commitment to the advancement and empowerment of Black professionals within the federal aviation industry.
Stephen was a passionate sports fan and a lifelong, die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan. For several years he was a season ticket holder that was completely loyal and committed, no matter the outcome. Stephen loved his hometown team!!!
Stephen leaves behind his loving daughter, Rachelle Whitfield (Chris), and son, Stephen Glynn Jr. (Heather), as well as his grandson, Xavier Martin and his beloved brother, Morris Glynn (Shirley). He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Helen Glynn; his parents, his cherished sister Joann and her husband Frank Smith; his brothers, John Jr. (aka Bussey), Hubert Glynn, Edward Lee Glynn, and Norris Glynn.
A memorial service to celebrate Stephen's life will be held on Saturday, March 1st at HT May Funeral Home, 405 Sycamore, Boonville, MO 65233 at 1:00 pm immediately followed by a family repass.
Stephen Wilburn Glynn Sr. will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, strength, and devotion to his family and friends leave an indelible mark on all of us. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, and he will never be forgotten.
