Sarah Leonard's Obituary
Sarah Leonard in her 98th Season was called home to the Master's paradise at the University of Missouri Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Second Baptist church in Columbia at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Wright's Temple Church of God in Christ on Sexton Street in Columbia, MO.
Mrs. Leonard was born on March 24, 1918 in Williamsburg, MO., to the late Henry Clay Lewis and Lena Pasley Lewis.
She received a formal education in Callaway County, where she lived until her move to the Columbia area in 1956.
She was employed with the University Hospital and Clinics from 1957 until her retirement in 1983.
While living here she married Guy Leonard and this union lasted until his death in 1973.
Mrs. Leonard was an active, life-long member of the Wright's Temple Church of God in Christ, and in time was given the honor of becoming a church mother.
Mrs. Leonard was a very devoted and loving mother and grandmother. To experience the quality of her love was a true blessing.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children Georgia Collins, John(Betty) Williams and Frank Williams all of Columbia, seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, five nieces, three nephews, and a host of many other relatives and friends. Her parents, siblings, husband, a son-in-law and two daughters preceded her in death.
