With profound sorrow and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and cherished friend, Sabrina Kay Taylor, who departed this life on August 9, 2025, at 68.
Though her earthly journey has ended her warmth, spirit, and boundless love will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her. Sabrina Kay was born in her “grandmama’s room” in Hayti, Missouri on August 26, 1956, to the late John and Cynthia Taylor. In 1962, she moved to Milwaukee, WI, with her parents and siblings. Sabrina was a graduate of Lincoln High School in 1974. She attended college at MATC and UWM, earning certification in the banking field. In December 1974, she welcomed her only child, Timothy Ladale Taylor. Sabrina gifted her son with a shared amount of wisdom and immense light. They both shared the ability to walk into a room and attract those to their infectious spirit.
Timothy, know that you are not alone, you are loved, and your family will forever carry you when in need.
In 1992, she moved to central Missouri from Milwaukee. In 1993, Sabrina married long-time partner Micheal D. Richardson in Marshall, MO, though decades later they dissolved their marriage, they remained family. She moved to Jackson, MS in 1997. She often remarked how she loved being in the south. However, returned to Missouri years later to be closer to her family.
Sabrina worked many jobs throughout her life, mostly caring for others. Sabrina had a love for sports (Go Packers!), especially basketball, as she often attended Milwaukee Bucks games. Brina, as we called her, was the backbone of our family. A woman whose presence brought comfort, joy, and an unwavering sense of belonging. Known for her generosity and gentle soul, she lived a life rooted in compassion and service. She found her greatest joy not in accolades or accomplishments, but in the smiles of those she loved, the laughter of children, and the comfort of a warm, shared meal. A passionate cook, Brina had a rare gift for turning simple ingredients into unforgettable dishes. Her kitchen was more than a place of nourishment. It was a sanctuary of love, where stories were shared, bonds were strengthened, and everyone left feeling fuller in every sense of the word. Whether it was a holiday feast, a Sunday dinner, or a plate made "just because," every meal she prepared reflected her care and her devotion to others. Damn, now who is going to make the potato salad?!!!
Children were especially drawn to her gentle heart. Her home was always open; she rarely had an empty nest. She had such patience and warmth that she brought children comfort, joy, laughter, and unconditional love. Despite how others viewed parenting, Brina gave children the space to live carefree without many rules while in her care. To them, she was not just an adult, but a safe space, a storyteller, a nurturer, and a guiding light.
As a sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Brina brought people together. Her presence was the glue that bound generations, and her wisdom was sought in moments of joy and challenge alike. She gave freely of her time, her heart, and her talents, leaving an imprint that would remain for generations to come. Though we are heartbroken by her passing, we are eternally grateful for the time we were given with her. Her legacy of kindness, service, and love will continue to inspire and guide us.
Sabrina's parents, John and Cynthia Taylor and brother Lummie Thomas, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Timothy (daughter in-law Tea), her soon to be eight grandchildren Janise, Ja'Shar, Tre'Von, Tiyonna, Deuce, Taalib, Janelle, and Baby Taylor (in the womb); Sisters: Avis and Audrey, sister in-law: Ruth and brothers in-law Greg and Bill. A host of nieces and nephews, including Jason, Tia, JB, Manda, Sigourney, Allison, Nick, Rae, Alexis, Pooter, D, John, Avian, Raziyah, Bre, ReYonna, Rhyan, Keanu, Aanya, Nasigh, Demarcus, Boop, Ky-Ky, lil Jason, Johnaven, and Kyrie along with great-great nieces and nephew, extended family, and countless friends whose lives she touched deeply.
To Quinn Johnson, father of Timothy, on behalf of the family, we thank you for being committed to her recovery after she became ill and being there until the very end.
A celebration of Sabrina's Life will follow the burial, at Harley Park in Boonville, MO. All who knew and loved her are welcome to join in remembering her remarkable life. In honoring her memory, let us continue her legacy of love, kindness, and service feeding not only stomachs, but souls, just as she always did.
Rest peacefully, our dearest Sabrina. You were a blessing to us all!
