Ruth Devolia Lee Ganaway's Obituary
Ruth Devolia Lee Ganaway, 94, of Fayette, answered the call of her Lord on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Fayette Caring Center. Funeral services will be on Saturday July 7, 2012 at 12 PM at Faith Family Church in Fayette. Visitation will be from 11AM-12PM at the church.
Ruth Devolia Lee Tooley Ganaway was born on January 22, 1918 in Chariton County, MO to the late Roy and Elizabeth Grant Lee.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age while she was a member of Grant’s Chapel A.M.E Church in Armstrong, MO, where she lived for many years. She later moved to Fayette, MO. She united with Second Missionary Baptist Church, she was a faithful member there until her health began to fail, but she still gave God all the glory. Upon visiting her at Fayette Caring Center, you would always find her listening to her Lee Williams DVD’s whom she would always say “he” reminded her of her deceased father.
She was known for her friendly and loving personality and her beautiful smile. She was always willing to lend a helpful hand to anyone. She loved to cook and wanted to feed you whether you were hungry or not. She loved large gatherings and on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, you could find a yard full of her loved ones.
She leaves to cherish her memories, 5 sons: William (Ella) Tooley of KC, MO; Chester (Marsha) Ganaway, Boonville, MO; Delbert (Joyce) Ganaway, Slater, MO; Glenn (Missy) Ganaway, Fayette, MO; Lynn Ganaway , New Franklin, MO; 3 Daughters: Genelle Hawkins, Devolia Eubanks, and Ruby (Larry) Mayfield, all of Columbia, MO; 2 Sisters: Naomi Campbell, Higbee, MO, and Alva (Woodrow) Wilson of Colorado Springs, CO; and one brother, Thomas (Jacqueline) Lee of Prairie Home, MO. She also has a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son, Curtis Tooley McKee, two daughters, Myrtle Tooley Canton and Verna Tooley McKee, one brother, Raymond Lee, two sisters, Gertrude Lee Mitchell and Edna Lee Bracken, and six grandchildren.
