Rufus Thomas,54, of Columbia, MO., passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at University of Missouri Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 4:00 PM at H.T. May & Son Funeral Home in Columbia. There will be no visitation.
Rufus Thomas of Coulmbia Mo. was born on December 15, 1963 in Hayti, Mo. the son of Wilson Thomas and Carrie Thomas. He departed this life to live eternally on July 22, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He leaves behind one son Courtney Franklin (Rikki Baker) and one grandaughter Maiya Baker all of Warrenton, MO, eight siblings, Willie Allen of Chicago, IL, JC Allen (Ria) of Dallas, TX, Bobbie Thomas of Independence, MO, Carolyn Galler of Nashville. TN, Dean Thomas of Columbia, MO, Sam Thomas (Tammy) of Columbia, MO, Anthony Thomas of Decatur, GA, Ursuline Lewis of Columbia, MO and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Loved ones that cleared the path for Rufus is his loving mother and father Wilson and Carrie Thomas and his brother Randy Thomas.
Rufus grew up in the Slater Mo area hunting, fishing and farming. Rufus loved to go fast no matter what he was doing rather driving his car, scooter, motorcycle He had a passion for animals. He could be seen riding around town in his vehicle or his scooter making his daily stops for ice or going to the local convenience store for the latest gossip. Rufus never met a stranger, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, he had a big heart, he made sure that if he had that no one went without. He loved to joke and play with friends and family as many knew him as "big pappa roo roo". He was really proud of his son Courtney and honored to be the grandfather of Maiya. He will be truly missed.
