Just reading all of the wonderful comments you all have left about my grandma. It still doesn’t feel like all of this is real, but i have to accept that it is. Thanks Everyone for the love and prayers. Friends of hers, are friends of mine.
I always enjoyed arriving at the Development Office to find Ruby there, ready to greet and help me. After both she and I retired from MU, we would cross paths at Gerbes, and I was delighted each time I saw her. Ruby was a lovely, gracious and kind woman who will be missed. My condolences to her loved ones.
Ruby Lee’s Family: Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of your mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. I graduated from Armstrong High School in 1963 and played basketball with Ruby Lee. She was such fun on and off the court and did she love to dance! We called her “Poochie.” Ruby Lee was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside and I considered her my friend. I was very saddened to learn of her passing but know that she is in the arms of her heavenly father.
I worked with Rudy at the Reynolds Alumni Center until I moved to Wisconsin. I gave her rides home on several occasions and my son and Rudy shared stories of their day on the ride home. She will be missed.
When Ruby worked at the MU Journalism School, we became friends. Later, when she worked elsewhere on campus, I visited her offices as frequently as practical. We often exchanged photographs and anecdotes about our wonderful children. I never heard Ruby judge anybody harshly. She was a beautiful person, on the exterior and the interior.
Thoughts and prayers for all of the family at this sad time. Ruby will be missed by all. She was a wonderful woman and oh how well I remember her famous Hook Shot. Played bball with Ruby and she was a true friend. May god watch over all of you through this shocking time and give you peace and comfort.
Mia & Jonah, my heart goes out to you both. Words can’t express the sorrow I know that you must be feeling, nor can I find the words to spare you the pain. But just know that you are not alone. Your mother loved you both so much, and her life revolved around the two of you and the grandkids. Remember all the great times you shared together, and think about what she would be saying to you now, if she was here. Ruby was such an awesome person, who was loved by so many. She would light up the room when she came in, and she didn’t know a dull moment. Take joy in knowing that you both have made her extremely proud, so keep your head high and know that she will always be watching over you. If there is anything I can do, you know I am just a few steps away. My prayers are with you both, Diane.
To the family of Ruby Mayfield, deepest sympathy for your loss.
