Ross Nathaniel "Nate" Conway's Obituary
Ross “Nate” Conway, 70, of Fayette, slept into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia. Services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 1 PM at Faith Family Church in Fayette. Visitation will be held from 11 AM - 1PM at the church on Saturday.
Ross Nathaniel Conway, (known to many as Nate), was born January 29, 1948 in Armstrong, Missouri to the late Floyd Leonard and Martha Ward raised by the late Wilbert Conway.
Nate departed this life on September 5, 2018 at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Nate graduated in 1965 from Slater High School, Slater, Missouri, he later went on to enlist in the United States Army in which he served a four year term with an honorable discharge.
He was employed at the Missouri Sate Highway Department in Fayette, Missouri until his declining health, at which he retired. Nate was a member of Second Baptist Church in Fayette, Missouri.
On March 14, 1975 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Crump in Fayette, Missouri and went on to celebrate 43 years of marriage. And to this union was a son, Clinton Conway, and two daughters Gloria Crump and Tracy Crump.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Nate never met a stranger; no matter where he went he always met someone he knew. He will be remembered for generous, giving heart, and his willingness to help anyone could. His favorite past times was sitting on the porch listening to his down home blues with his Philly Baby (Phyllis). He also loved cutting grass and anything that involved using a tractor, lawn mower or farm equipment until his health prevented him from doing so.
Nate was preceded in death by his parents Martha Hopkins, Wilbert Conway and Floyd Leonard, one brother Richard Bush and one sister Betty Broadus.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Phyllis Conway of the home, a son Clinton Conway, of Fayette, Missouri, daughters Gloria Crump of Kansas City, Missouri, Tracy Crump of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Gwendolyn Elaine Conway Green of Edwardsville, Illinois. Five grandchildren Tyana Conway of Houston, Texas, Josh (Jada) Crump of Raymore, Missouri, Andrea Crump TreVon Crump, and Mona Crump all of Kansas City, Missouri, three great grandchildren Aryonna Crump Jailen Crump and Ryan Lindsey Jr. all of Kansas City, Missouri. He also leaves five sisters Sandra Napier (Sam) of Marshall, Missouri, Elizabeth Sowell (Don) of Linn Creek, Missouri, Penelope Butler of Marshall, Missouri, Rachael Leonard of Columbia, Missouri, and Teresa Hinkle of Stockton, California; eight brothers Wilbert Conway (Lana) of Belleville, Kansas, Michael Conway (Kathy) of Marshall, Missouri, David Conway (Donna) of Jonesboro, Georgia, Kevin Conway (Linda) of Salisbury, Missouri, Richard Conway of St. Joseph, Missouri, John Bush of Columbia, Missouri, Randy Bush of Fayette, Missouri, and Chuckie Turner of Minneapolis, Minnesota, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
