Sis has been part of my life, all of my life.
Her mom and my mom were cousins on the Penn and Gallie side from Georgetown.
Both mothers were like sisters, and wanted their children to know that!
If you wanted a laugh....call Sis..if you wanted to feel better..call Sis...if you wanted to feel loved..call Sis.. She was everything to everybody.
I remember the times going to her house on Dunklin Street Jefferson City, when I was student at Lincoln University. She'd say, "Come on in cousin Herbie, and go to the kitchen and get some food".
That's what family is for, and that's what our moma's and daddy's taught us.
Can't leave out that our daddy's were best friends.
I remember both couples getting ready to go to the annual Tigerette and Rosamunda dances...which were the big dances for Sedalia Black folk in 1950's, 60's, 70's and into the 80's.
As Sis would always say, "The Poindexter's and The Kitchen's are the "original 8"..and she was damn right!
Much love of care and comfort to her children, grand and great grandchildren, Billy, Moreece, Kay, AA and Carmie, and all of her Georgetown cousins!
May memories of Sis and the love she showed to her family surround each of you and give you strength, comfort and peace in the days ahead.
Love all ya'll.... Herbie
