Roberta Jean McGill's Obituary
Roberta McGill, 94, of Boonville, MO, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Ashley Manor Care Center. Services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Matthews AME Church in Boonville. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Services will be live streamed at 11:00 AM through the St. Matthews AME Church Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/SMCBoonvilleMo.
Roberta Jean Brown McGill was born January 7, 1928, to Leslie M. and Mamie B. Brown. She attended Sumner High School in Boonville, MO, and Dunbar in Madison, IL. She moved to Buffalo, NY in the early 1950s where she met and married Marshall F. McGill in 1960. She was a member of Bethel AME Church in Buffalo, NY, Allen Chapel AME Church in Washington, DC, and St. Matthews AME Church in Boonville. She served at all three churches as a Stewardess and a Sunday School teacher. She was also a missionary in the Carol Sue Crittenden Society at St. Matthews. She was retired from the US Postal services.
She leaves to cherish her memory her nieces and nephews Chaneta Elbert, Janice Estill, Robert Estill Corita Estill, Gilbert Crook Sr. (Loretta), Anita Guess, Ophelia Pierra and over 100 great nieces and nephews. She also leaves her special friend Evangelist Pam Taylor, her phone friends Ms. Kathryn Bass and Mrs. Charlene Adams and her walk buddy Ms. Venetta Whitaker,
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marshall McGill, her brother Alvin Brown, three sisters Maxine Estill Clemoris Allen and Gladys Crook and a nephew Terrance Crook.
