Robert Jones Sr., 57, of El Cajon, CA, formerly of Fayette, MO, passed away on Thursday, August 20,2020 in El Cajon. Services for Robert will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 11 AM at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Boonville.
Robert James Jones was born in Fayette, Missouri on April 24, 1963 and departed this life on August 20, 2020 in El Cajon, California.
He attended Fayette High School, graduated in 1981 and joined the Navy in the delayed entry program. He decided to make the Navy his career and served 22 years, retiring in 2003 as a Chief Petty Officer. He traveled to many countries on different ships and aircraft carriers, and sent his mother many things from those countries.
He met Cheryl Sledge, who was also in the Navy, and they were married in 1987. To this union one son, Robert Jr. was born.
He is survived by parents Nancy and Donald Jones of Fayette, Missouri, one son Robert Jr., one daughter Sophia Sledge, three grandchildren all of Houston, Texas. One grandson preceded him in death. He also leaves brothers William W. Jones of Boonville, Missouri and Donald (Cloress) of Moberly, Missouri, two aunts Ruth Jones of Columbia, Missouri and Betty Jones of St. Joseph, Missouri, one uncle Williams H. Jones of Plattsburg, Missouri and a special friend Charlotte Rios, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including the Gaines and Jackman childhood friends.
