I was saddened to hear of the passing of Robert, better known as Sugar Bear on the USS Ricketts. I knew him as a good and decent man. He had a smile that was infectious.
RIP Bear.
I knew Robert as "Sugar Bear" when we were shipmates aboard USS Claude V. Ricketts. He was a very fine Sailor, an able crewman and a true good spirit in the crew. I came to find this obit because some fellas were reminiscing on the ships Facebook page. I hope he had a wonderful life after leaving the Navy. I am sure his passing has left many saddened.
I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Robert as well as my son did, his name is Corben and he is 6. He loved to visit Robert whenever he would go to his great grandmothers apartment. They were both very fond of each other and I'm sure his little heart is going to break knowing his buddy Robert isn't there to talk cars and hang out with anymore. Your family is in our prayers.
