Robert Eugene Brown's Obituary
Robert Eugene Brown, 80, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Auxvasse, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Friendship Baptist Church in Columbia, MO at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM Friday at the Church.
Robert Eugene Brown, Sr. passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
He was born August 9, 194 3 in Auxvasse, Missouri to the union of William Henry and Helen Louise (Bruner) Brown. He received his early education in the Missouri Public School System, attending Pleasant Hill/ Atkinson Colored School, Paul Lawrence Dunbar School, bused to Lincoln University Laboratory High School in Jefferson City, and graduated from Auxvasse High School.
After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1961-1965 and exit with an Honorable Discharge.
Robert enjoyed learning. He went on to attend Lincoln University and graduated from Metro Business College in Jefferson City, Missouri.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and the National Order of Trench Rats. Robert also had a number of hobbies including reading, photography, traveling, and sports. He was an avid Kansas City Royals fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Brown; brother, George Brown; sister, Joyce Brown; nephew, Nathaniel Thornton; and stepson, Michael Belcher.
Survivors include daughter, Kimberly Brown; son Robert (Katherine) Brown, Jr.; daughter, Donella Brown all of Columbia, Missouri; son, Midas (Lanae) Brown; and stepdaughter, Cherie Belcher of Columbia, Missouri. Grandchildren Dari'us Brown, Miah Brown, Jeremiah Brown all of Columbia, Missouri; Brittaney Nicholson, Chicago, Illinois; LaKeisha (John) Edison, Columbia, Missouri. Two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Belcher and Kyian Belcher, Columbia, Missouri. Two sisters ldenia (George) Thornton, Columbia, Missouri; and Loretta Brown, Oklahoma. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and friends.
