Robert AbdulKareem, 12, of Columbia, Mo. passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 Funeral services and burial will be private at the Islamic Center Cemetery of Mid Missouri.
Robert “BJ” Jamal AbdulKareem was born in Washington, DC on April 28, 2003 to Dina Marjani AbdulKareem and Kenneth Morris. Proud big brother to Yasmeen Iman Abdus-Salaam. His name, Robert, honors his great-great uncle, Robert “Bobby” Brauer. Jamal means beautiful. AbdulKareem means servant of the most generous. His mother believes that God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers. BJ fought every day to overcome his internal battles and still managed to share his love and light with those he encountered. Although his time on earth was short, his life continues to teach us so many lessons. BJ is survived by his parents Dina and Kenneth, younger sister Yasmeen, grandparents Aisha Kareem and Khalid Ihsan AbdulKareem, great-grandmother Pat Etienne, aunt Brie Kareem, uncle Adam Wilkerson and a host of family and friends in Washington DC, Boston, Columbia, Los Angeles, and beyond. Teachers and staff of the Accotink Academy in Virginia and the Quest School in Columbia, MO marveled at his intelligence, spirit and warmth
