Provine Curtis' Obituary
Provine Curtis, 79, of Columbia, died Friday, May 14, 2010 in Memphis, Tn. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, May 31, 2010 at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. David Ballenger officiating.
Mr. Curtis was born October 14, 1930 in Oakland, Mississippi, to John and Sarah Curtis. He married Fannie Mae Fowler on Feb. 6, 1947 in Marion , Ar. and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Curtis came to Columbia in 1947 to work at the University of Missouri where he retired as a custodian after 30 years. He was a member of Russell Chapel Church. He loved to sing and was a proud member of the Velvetones for many years. He continued to sing proudly unti shortly before his death.
Mr. Curtis leaves to mourn nine children Shirley Hardiman and Debbie Webber both of Memphis, Tn., Jerry( Jeanette) Curtis of Austin, Tx., Patricia (Larry) Brown, Perry Curtis, Clara Curtis Ganaway,, Michael (Theresa) Curtis and Anthony Curtis all of Columbia and Jennetta Curtis of Austin, Tx., 22 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friendw, a very special friend Marie Burchett of Memphis, Tn., and family friend Margaret Norris. He was preceded in death by his parents.
