Phyllis Williams' Obituary
Phyllis Williams, 72, of Columbia passed in into eternity on September 20, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at St. Luke United Methodist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 pm at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home.
Phyllis Williams was born January 8, 1940 in Tamms, IL. the daughter of John and Amanda Williams Hayes.
Phyllis attended Douglass High School. She always doted on her gradnchildren. and was very generous to everyone she met, whether it was three children that were her neighbors that became like grandchildren or her friend that someone brought to the house, everyone was welcome.
Phyllis was a devoted houswewilfe , her outside jobs were always designed to make sure she was available for her children and later her grandchildren.
Phyllis enjoyed reading, working puzzles, making desserts, going to auctions and garage sales and shopping. She loved organizing family get togethers, baby showers and wedding showers, and doing hair for family and friends.
Phyllis is survived by her husband John Henry Williams, her two sons John(Lisa) and Brian(Shamon), 7 grandchildren; Chanda, Breosha, Logan, Brian Jr., Zaida, Me’hki and Jonathan all of Columbia.
She is also survived by four brothers Carl “Jack” Hayes of Wichita, KS., and his special friend Geraldine Morris, Clarence(Vonnia) Hayes of Las Vegas, NV., Rev. Raymond Hayes(Celestine) and William (Cornelia) Hayes both of Columbia, two sisters Clara Pauline (James) Harris of Peoria, IL., and Evelyn Lee of Columbia, Mo., brother-in-law Frank(Ann)Williams of St. Louis, Mo., sister-in-law Georgia Collins of Columbia, Mother-in-Law Sarah Leonoard of Columbia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends. She will be sorely missed by all who loved and knew her. Phyliss was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her sisters Julie Carol Hayes, Margaret K. Hayes, Jewell Bentley and one niece Iesha Hayes.
