Phyllis Mary Conway entered eternal life on May 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love. Born on
September 16, 1949, in Fayette, Missouri to Minnie Marie Gaines-Crump and Irvin Crump, Phyllis
grew up in a close-knit community rooted in family values and resilience.
Phyllis attended Lincoln Public School and later graduated from Fayette High School, where she set out on
a lifelong path marked by determination, perseverance, and an unwavering work ethic. She began her early
career at Central Methodist College and later worked as a factory employee at National Garment until it's
closing. Phyllis pursued other careers until 2001; when she found a new chapter at the Isle of Capri Casino,
and served faithfully until her retirement in 2016.
On March 14, 1975, Phyllis married the love of her life, Ross "Nate" Conway. Together, they built a life
filled with family and shared memories.
Phyllis was unapologetically herself- bold and deeply rooted in who she was. She found joy in the simple
things, relaxing on her porch on a sunny day, playing her old school music, and sharing laughs with family
and friends.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished sister and friend. Her laugh and sense of humor will forever echo in the lives of those she touched.
Phyllis was welcomed into eternal life by her husband, Nate Conway; her parents, Minnie Gaines-Crump,
and Irvin Crump; her sisters, Gloria Ann Crump, and Donna Marie Crump; her brothers, Michael Eugene
Crump, William Arthur Crump (Wimpy), and Benjamin Gaines; and her nephew, Travis Lamont Crump.
Though her passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, her spirit lives on through the generations she helped shape.
She leaves to cherish her memory:
• Her three children: Gloria Crump (Sam) of Kansas City, MO; Tracy Crump (Bill) of Oak Grove, MO;
and Clinton Conway (Lori) of Boonville, MO
• Her three sisters: Matilda Crump, Constance Crump, and Annette Crump, all of Fayette, MO
• Her beloved aunt: Nadine Bynum of Kansas City, MO
Phyllis's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Joshua King (Jada) of Raymore, MO; Andrea
Crump of Kansas City, MO; Trevon Crump (Susan) of Olathe, KS; Monae Crump of Kansas City, MO;
and Tyana Conway of Houston, TX.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Ary'onna, Jailen, Ryan (Alex), and Jaxson, all of
Kansas City, MO.
Her loving and loyal dog, Ms. C-H-L-O-E, who brought her comfort and joy in her later years, will miss
her presence as well.
Phyllis also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Her laughter, strength, and love will continue to shine through those she nurtured and inspired.
"To know her was to love her. To remember her is to keep her spirit alive."
