Peter Alan Norman's Obituary
Peter A. Norman, 67, of Columbia, was received into the arms of Jesus on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Boone Hospital Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 21, 2015 at 12 PM at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. The visitation will be held from 11 AM to 12 PM on Friday at the church.
Peter Alan Norman was the first born of ten children to George and Joyce L. Norman Sr. in Huntington, Ar. on July 24, 1948. He departed this life on Friday, August 14, 2014 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church in the Oakwood Bayou Community in Dumas, Ar. under the leadership of Rev. M.C. Elliott. He was a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Roderick Williams in Columbia, Mo.
Peter grew up on a farm in the Oakwood Bayou Community in Dumas, Ar. along with his nine siblings. He later joined the army where he became a wonderful cook. He returned home and married the former Elsie Boyd and to this union three children were born.
Peter worked as an over the road truck driver , school bus driver and a city bus driver during the course of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr., and Joyce L. Norman, two brothers Larry Darnell Norman and John Anthony Norman, and two nieces Tori Yvette Turner and Lakiesha LsShawn Norman.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Elsie Norman of the home, two daughters Andrea(Linwood Burgess of Columbia, Mo., and Kimberly(Maurice) Mullen of Warrenton, Mo., one son Atterio Norman of Columbia, Mo., six grandchildren Chasity Jackson, Deja Burgess, Jadyn Mullen, Giovonte Demonye Norman, Isreal Atterio Norman, Aliyah Deyon Norman, one great-grandson Kadence Fair, six brothers George(Allene)Norman Jr., Norman Edward(Roberta)Norman, and Jason Norman all of Columbia, Mo., Octavius(Pam)Norman of Berkley, Mo., Wendell (Aubrey) Norman of Fort Smith, Ar., and Robert(Gina) Norman of Las Vegas, NV., two sisters Lisa Turner and Lori(Johnnie) Tatum of Columbia, Mo, one uncle, six aunts, one great-aunt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Peter was a man of great faith who loved the Lord and his family. He loved the poem "Footprints in the sand" his favorite line was "when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
