Nannie Broadus' Obituary
Nannie Broadus, 67, of Boonville, passed into eternity on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Boone Hospital Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Riverside Christian Church in Boonville at 17111 Klinton Dr. at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm Friday at the church.
Nannie Mae Banks Broadus was born in Fayette, Missouri on July 7, 1947, to Mary Mozetta Banks and Cordie Paige. She heard the call of the Lord and departed this life on October 19, 2014 at the age of sixty-seven years, three months and five days after having fought an exemplary fight of faith. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Terry Broadus, and several sisters and brothers.
Nannie attended Fayette Public Schools and graduated in 1965. the birth of her only child at an early age, Cuqrita, prompted her to enter the field of home care work.
In 1967 she was united in marriage to Charles A. Whitley. In 1982 she was united in marriage to Terry Broadus, and took excellent care of him during his many years of illness until his death in 1999.
A hard worker, Nannie pursued a career at the University of Missouri that lasted almost thirty years as a food service cook, supervisor, and dining hall manager.
A person known for her outspoken logic, compassion, spirit of hospitality, and exceptional cooking skills, Nannie will be missed by not only her beloved family and friends, but many strangers she came into contact with in the hospitals and public arena. No matter how sick she was, she did not hesitate to attempt to encourage others with her testimony of how good Jesus Christ was to her and to them! She truly believed that the Lord could heal the sick and make the lame walk.
To walk on Holy grounds and to cherish her precious memories Nannie leaves one daughter, Cuqrita N. Whitley, Columbia, Missouri; one granddaughter, Brittney Whitley, and great grandson De’Erin Howard, Columbia, Missouri; two foster daughters/nieces, Tania Logan Lewis and Fatouma Ibrahima, Columbia, Missouri; leaves her love with her three living siblings, Leona (Peggy) Wayland, Fayette, Missouri; Dr. Helen Clay, Des Moines, Iowa; and Gladys (Moe) Logan Roland, Columbia, Missouri; a close friend of the home, John Clark, Boonville, Missouri; and a host of friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her Riverside Christian Church family.
