Nancy Nelson's Obituary
Nancy Nelson, 88, of Blackwater, MO, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at South Hampton Place in Columbia. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Old Lamine Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
Nancy Nelson was born on April 17, 1937, in Nebraska. Early in her life, she moved with her family to a farm in Missouri, where she developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of rural life. Over the years, Nancy worked as a proofreader for the local newspaper, a skilled seamstress, and a devoted caregiver for children.
It was in Columbia, Missouri, that she met the love of her life, Lloyd M. Nelson. The two were married and went on to raise two sons, Ron M. Nelson and Darryl W. Nelson. As a mother, Nancy poured her heart into her family, while continuing to lend her helping hands to friends, neighbors, and anyone in need.
Growing up on a farm instilled in Nancy a lifelong love of animals and the outdoors. She enjoyed riding horses, reading, and spending time with her beloved pets. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family—especially her four grandchildren, Vivian, Victoria, Drake, and Hunter—whom she cherished dearly.
Nancy was known for her warm hospitality, her delicious home cooking, and her talent as a skilled card dealer.
