Myrtle Ellis' Obituary
Myrtle Marie Ellis, 80, of Columbia, answered the call of her Lord on December 17, 2012 at Boone Hospital Center. Funeral services will be held Friday December 21, 2012 at 11 am at HT May & Son Funeral Home in Columbia. Visitation will be from 10-11 am at the funeral home.
Myrtle Ellis was born November 29, 1932 in Columbia the daughter of Leroy Freelon and Hazel Jenning. She was a member of the St. Paul A.M.E. Church.
She was employed by Stephens College for approximately 17 years; she then worked at a sorority house for 8 years as a cook. After retirement she explored the craft, floral designs, had a green thumb and spent time planting and transplanting green life.
She was very outgoing; her hobbies also included fishing, travel, puzzles, bingo, and a great passion for her grandchildren.
Moma Myrtle Marie Ellis loved all her children, she was patient in her heart, and she was always giving valuable life knowledge to guide you in the right direction in your path of righteousness. She loved the lord and praised him daily, she had passion with her cooking for everyone, she was skilled in every way, and she was very wise and full of knowledge. She was outgoing, full of joy. Mother didn’t wait for no one because she was there for all her family and friends, and everyone loved her dearly. Her passion was teaching us to stand on our own, for life, her family was most important. She loved to talk, her life was full and she lived it to the fullest. Moma said there would be changes in your life, she spoke of staying in peace with her heart, love and the Lord Jesus Christ, she wanted and did live her life with no complications, she loved flowers, growing and planting.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons Gerry Ellis of De Pere, WI., Jerod Ellis of Columbia, Mo., Randy Ellis of Green Bay, WI., three daughters Rae Ann Marshall, Yvonnda Freelon and Tammy Freelon all of Columbia, Mo., one brother William Broadus of Chicago, IL., and two sisters Shirley Freelon and Rose Burton both of Columbia, 23 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by: Jerry Ellis (Knight Rider), William Albert Freelon (Freeze), her mother Hazel Jennings, and siblings Johnny Freelon, and Charles Burton.
