Morrece Poindexter's Obituary
Morrece Poindexter, 65, of Sedalia, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020, in Sedalia, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Ward Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10-1 Saturday at the church. Social distancing recommendations will be observed. Masks will be made available to the public.
Morrece Poindexter was born on August 19, 1954 in Sedalia, MO the son of Leonard and Kathryn Penn Poindexter.
Morrece retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after many years of service to the company. He was a former President of the International Brotherhood of Fireman and Oilers local union # 642.
Morrece was a former Cub Master of Pack #202 in Sedalia. He worked for a number of years at the Alexander-May Funeral Home.
Morrece was a faithful member of Ward Memorial Baptist Church in Sedalia where he was a member of the Male Chorus, Past President of the Central District Layman Association, President of the Ward Memorial Baptist Church Laymens group and Assistant Treasurer of the church.
Morrece loved his family and spending time with them. He loved fishing and called himself the King Fisherman. He loved grilling and telling humorous stories.
Morrece was loved in the Sedalia community and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Benita Jacobs-Poindexter, five sons Travis (Samantha) Poindexter of Kansas City, MO, Tony (Donna) Fulcher of Sedalia, MO, Lavar Umbles of Columbia, Cliff ( Carrie) Poindexter of Overland Park , KS, and Trevon Gravitt of Kansas City, KS, One brother William Poindexter of Sedalia, MO, three sisters Sherita Kay Poindexter, Marsha Poindexter, and Carmen( Charles) Taylor all of Sedalia, 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. His in laws Tonya (James) Charles, Staci Goforth, Charla Goforth, ad Carlos Goforth and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, with one special cousin Willeen Sims.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Leonard "Tiny" Poindexter, and Keven Poindexter, one sister Rose Poindexter, one son De'Angelo Leak, one aunt Rose "Tootsie" Minor and two uncles Sonny Penn and Lester Boggs.
