Mildred Irene Stemmons' Obituary
Mildred Irene Stemmons, of Rocheport, MO, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025. She was 91 years old. Mildred lived a long, full, and blessed life.
Mildred was born May 24, 1933, in Fayette, MO, and was the daughter of Ellen Hill and Hickman Leonard. She attended Lincoln Public School in Fayette, MO and High School at Dalton Vocational School in Dalton, MO. Mildred was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, she worked at a Day Care Center in Columbia, MO, and was a Caregiver. But most of her life, she was a homemaker. Mildred loved taking care of her family. Mildred had a welcoming soul and a passion for cooking her family Sunday dinners.
Mildred was united in marriage to Elroy Stemmons on February 25, 1950, and to this union seven children were born.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Elroy Stemmons, her parents, Ellen Hill and Hickman Leonard; her twin brother Millard, brothers Fred Hill and Floyd Leonard; sister Auida Smith, and one daughter-in-law Leta Jean Stemmons.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son: Roy L. Stemmons (late Leta) of Columbia, MO, six daughters: Maeola L. Rowles of Boonville, MO, Yolanda D. Caruthers (Drew) of Columbia, MO, Beverly J. Green (Will) of Columbia, MO, Sherry L. Jackman (Michael) of Fayette, MO, Patricia K. Chavis (Dion) of Indianapolis, IN, Melody L. Eubanks (Robert) of Wooldridge, MO, one sister: Beverly Ann Holt (late Sonny), eleven grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
