Mildred B. Lewis' Obituary
Mildred Lewis, 89, of Jefferson City, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at Jeferson City Manor Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 Thursday at the church.
She was born May 25, 1920 in Guthrie, Mo., the daughter of the late Burton and Bessie Vaughn Nevins. She was married on June 8, 1940 to Manuel H. Lewis, She also had one son Manuel Taylor Lewis who preceded her in death on January 14, 2000.
She was a lifelong member of Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Guthrie, Mo.
She leaves to cherish her memory one Sister Beatrice Nevins Jones of Fulton, Mo., two sons Marvin Lewis of Jefferson City, Mo., and Maurice Lewis of Cedar City, Mo., two granddaughters Ramona (Calvin) Barnett of Jefferson City, Mo., and Lindsey Lewis of Highland, Ca., and three great-grandchildren Jeshua Baynham, Lyric Barnett and Calvin Barnett Jr., all of Jefferson City, Mo., and a host of cousins and friends.
