Melvene Lynette Cason (Thomas) 56 of Columbia, MO, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at St. Luke Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at St. Luke United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM, visitation will be from 1-2PM Saturday at the church.
Melvene Lynette Lumpkin Cason, age 56, was called home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2025.
She was born July 4, 1968, in Hayti, Missouri to Floree Smith-Hill and James H. Parker. She gave her life to the Lord as a young adult.
She was a fiesty, caring, loving person. She loved family. She was firm, outspoken and funny. She loved family gatherings, and if she could help you, she would. She loved God, reading her word and praying. She was full of life, hopeful, reliable, dependable and she was full of love. She loved to travel and be around family. She loved her friends just as much as she loved family.
Melvene worked for Casey's General Store as a manager, she was a manager at MFA, she was an assembler for Express Personnel. She worked for Taco Bell and Kalhns Investments. She was a bookkeeper, a banker, and a telemarketer.
Melvene is survived by her husband Sammy Cason, her siblings: Maxine Smith of Hayti, Missouri, Bobby Smith of Columbia, Missouri, Latricia Garcia of Columbia, Missouri, James Lumpkins Jr. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her Mother Floree Smith-Hill, Father James H. Parker, sisters: Sheila Ann Lumpkins, Chanette Hill-Byndon, nephew Rodney Maxwell Cortez (Bucky) and a host of relatives and friends.
