Matthew Williams' Obituary
Matthew Williams, of Baton Rouge, LA., formerly of Sedalia answered the call of the Lord on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday October 16, 2012 at Alexander-May Funeral Home in Sedalia. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm at the funeral home.
Matthew Wellington Williams, Sr. who resided in Baker, Louisiana with his beloved and dedicated wife, Shirley (Hunter) Williams, and their son, Matthew Wellington Williams, Jr., died at age 71 on Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He had been ill for several years.
He is survived by: His wife: Shirley (Hunter) Williams; Son, Matthew Wellington Williams, Jr., Daughter, Lynette Jones; Daughter, Marcella Jones; and daughter, Mille Annette Williams.
Matthew was born in Sedalia, Missouri on January 2, 1941, the fourth son, of eight children born to the late Addison and Drennon Nuel (Holmes) Williams. Sr. He is survived by four {4) of his siblings; Estella L. Adams, of Alhambra, California. Addison M, Williams, Jr. of Jefferson City, Missouri. Charles O. Williams, Sr. of St. Louis, Missouri. and George L. Williams of Albuquerque, New Mexico..
Matthew graduated from C.C. Hubbard Grade and High Schools, in Sedalia, Missouri, and continued his education by graduating from Lincoln University, Jefferson City Missouri with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Matthew, a Vietnam veteran served the country as member of the U.S. Navy. He was a school teacher for several years. During his career as an engineer, he worked for General Electric, and Stauffer Chemical Company.
He had his own business, until he became disabled. Architecture, design and drafting were some of his enjoyments.
Matthew in his younger years was a member of Taylor Chapel Methodist Church in Sedalia, MO. In Baker, LA he was an active member of Shady Grove 1st Missionary Baptist Church. He believed in GOD and lived in accordance to GOD’s word and dedicated his life to his family. WELL DONE TO A FAITHFUL AND HUMBLE SERVANT.
