Mary Turner's Obituary
Mary Turner, 93, of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Parkside Manor in Columbia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at St. Luke United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 11 AM -1 PM Saturday at the church.
Mary was born on October 25, 1927, to Dave Jordan and Ora Lee Bailey Jordan. Mary was raised in Columbia and attended Frederick Douglass High. She later attended Madame C.J. Walker Beauty Culture School. Mary returned to Columbia where she became self employed as a beautician. In 1958 she married Roy Turner and the union produced two children Judith and Charles and a stepson John Estes. Mary was devoted to her family and the church. A lifelong member of St. Luke UMC. There she Belonged to The Usher Board, Evangelistic Committee, Church Women United and the Elk Hurst Ext. Club. She got the nickname "The General" from her no-nonsense Approach. Mary was always willing to help any way she could and always had good Sound advice for all who enquired. Mary was preceded in death by her husband
Roy Turner, Brothers David Jordan and Herbert Jordan (Nettie) Sisters Minnie Franklin (Gurnie) and Lillie Thompson. She is survived by daughter Judith Enyart, Son Charles Turner and stepson John Estes. Grandchildren Tim Ellis (Sonja) Columbia, MO. Sherrod Ellis of Ft. Worth Tx. And Shari Lomax. 9 great and 19 great great grandchildren. Several nieces and Nephews and countless friends
