Mary Jones' Obituary
Mary Sue Jones (Lawson), 61, of Boonville, MO, formerly of McGregor, IA passed away peacefully on April 28, 2021 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Iowa.
Mary was born in Prairie du Chien, WI, to William and Marilyn Lawson (Steinberg) on January 26, 1960. She attended school in Prairie du Chien. On July 30, 1988 Mary married the love of her life, Marlon “Scrooge” Jones. Their love for each other was amazing and inspiring even up to the very end of her life. Mary worked various jobs over the years usually waitressing and bartending. She eventually worked at the Miss Marquette and in 2001 moved to Boonville to work at the Isle of Capri.
Mary was known for her smile, laugh and big personality. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, family, dog Tweeter, cat Max but nothing compared to her time with her eight grandchildren. She always enjoyed many outdoor activities and loved her Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeyes. Most recently she often posted stories or pictures of her adventures with Scrooge since his retirement.
Mary is preceded in death by her father William Lawson, her paternal grandparents Harold and Verla Lawson, maternal grandparents Milton and Cecilia Steinberg and her beloved pets Angel, Rusty and Sadie.
Mary is survived by her husband Marlon “Scrooge” Jones of Boonville, MO. Children Milisa Walker of Boonville, Eric Baumgarten (Sandy) of Tomah, WI, Tonya (Mike) Meyer and Sophie (Preston) Landt both of Monona, IA, Dayton (Stacia) Jones of Cedar Rapids, IA. Sister Cindy Bohnenkamp (Jake) and mother Marilyn Lawson both of Benson, AZ. Parents in-law Dayton and Kate Jones of Waukon Junction, IA. Grandchildren Kennedy and Madison Walker, Ethan Gunderson, Devon and Hadyn Meyer, Layla Landt, Harrison and Morrison Jones. Along with many family and friends.
