Mary Harris' Obituary
Mary Harris, 84, of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday April 22, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Parkade Baptist Church, 2102 N. Garth at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be on Friday, May 1, 2015 at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home from 6-8PM.
Mary Janette Harris was born on May 27, 1930 in Keytesville, Mo., the daughter of Oscar and Mary Williams Paige. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee, she was known for her lemon pies. She worked for Sudden Service Cleaners for fifteen years. She retired in 1992 after twenty years of service to the University of Missouri. She was married to Lawrence Harris Sr., and then Clay Hayes Sr., and they both preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her close companion Elroy Thompson of Columbia, Mo., four sons Lawrence(Renee) Harris, Walter(Linda) Harris and Wayne Harris all of Columbia, Mo., and Delbert(Azell Mendez)) Harris of Harrisburg, Mo., six daughters Janice Palmer of Columbia, Mo., Delores(Kenneth) Cooper of Denver, Co., Cornelia(William) Hayes, Sandra(Alvin) Sheard, Dondra(Gary Johnson) Vasquez, and Marilyn(John) Marks all of Columbia, Mo., one step-daughter Mary Warren of Columbia, Mo., one brother Leroy Paige of Denver, Co., special sisters Alfreda Harvey and Shirley Broadus both of Columbia, Mo., and her extended family Debbie and Darrell Jordan of Columbia, Mo. 24, grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Oscar Paige Jr. and James Paige, one sister, and two grandsons Daniel Harris and Darrin Garr.
