Mary Ann Barnett's Obituary
Mary Ann Barnett, 97, of Fayette, passed into eternity on Friday, February 3, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 2PM at Second Baptist Church in Fayette, burial will be in Fayette City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 Saturday at the church.
Mary Ann Barnett 97, was born July 6,1914 in Fayette M.O. to Sterling Shields and Hattie B. Shields. Hermother, father, son, granddaughter, grandson, grandparents and long timefriend Canole “Sweetie” Stemmons preceded her in death.
Early in age Mary Ann was baptized at Second Baptist Church of Fayette MO. Mary was also a devouted memberof the choir early in her years. She attended church faithfully every Sunday until her health failed. Mary Ann was employed by Keller MemorialHostpital for many years. She then went on to work for Central Methodist College and finally retired from Rest Haven Retirement Center. Mary also had several day jobs around town as well. Mary lived a good,healthy, long life. She enjoyed the simple things in life. Mary always had an answer for every question and would help anyone do anything ,all you had to do was ask. Mary loved to read the bible and romance novels. She was a seamstress and did not have a problem getting down and dirty in her flower beds, pulling weeds and planting flowers. Maryalso picked up a habit of painting ceramics over the years. You would not be surprised if you seen the mailman dropping off a package to her home from JCPenny. She loved shopping out of their catalog. Mary also loved the color yellow. She enjoyed decorating her home and taking care of her pets, whether it be a stray cat she took a liking to a dog someone else brought home and she adopted shortly after. Mary was a jack of all trades. She was very detailed. Mary datedand kept everything from grocery receipts to 10 year old Christmas cards. If anyone knew Mary Ann Barnett, they knew she loved Russell Stovers Chocolates and had a never ending supply of Brachers caramel candy and the pepperments that melt in your mouth in her blue glass candy dish that sit on her coffee table.
