Marjorie Turner's Obituary
Marjorie Turner, 97, of Cleveland, OH, passed on to the other side on Saturday May 31, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church. There will be no visitation.
“… Then another book was opened which is [the Book] of Life. And the dead were judged by what they had done [their whole way of feeling and acting, their aims and endeavors] …” Revelation 20:12 AMP
Marjorie White Turner’s book of life was filled with love, diligence, and being a perfect model for her siblings, students, teachers, parents and for all those whom she served. This was true from her birth to her death. On September 27, 1916, she was born into the loving, Christian family of David and Mary Ann White. She spread this love to all those who knew her. She was virtuous! She loved her six siblings – all of whom predeceased her.
Not only was she a perfect model for the siblings, but she was a super teacher … both at school where she taught thousands of students and the 40 years that she taught Sunday School at Antioch Baptist Church. She showed students that she loved learning through earning two Master degrees. Mrs. Turner always served others at Phillis Wheatley, as well as with teachers and parents as an Assistant Principal at Alexander Hamilton Middle School and at John Adams High School. Additionally, she served Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for 76 years, where she was a diamond soror.
This is probably what attracted her husband, James, deceased, to her. Surely her life says, “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 NIV
She leaves to celebrate her life, Rosalind Elbeck (niece), a host of family, her Christian friends, sorors, friends, and her aides … who truly loved her and will miss her.
We Thank God for Marjorie! Her works were spectacular!
