Marjorie Hannon's Obituary
Marjorie Hannon, 77, of Lexington, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday October 11, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Lexington, MO. The visitation will be held from 11 am – 1 pm at the church.
The sunrise of Marjorie Ann Perry Hannon was on Sunday April 11, 1937 in Warrensburg, Missouri. She was the daughter of Charles Wesley Perry and Alice Lucille Smith Nichols.
“Margie” as she was affectionately called, was baptized as an infant at the St. James A.M.E. Church in Higginsville, Missouri.
Margie grew up in Higginsville. She attended Douglass School in Lexington, Missouri, and was a member of the class of 1954, the last class to graduate from Douglass School. After graduation, she attended Kansas Technical Institute in Topeka, Kansas.
On May 8, 1955 she was united in marriage to Everett W. Hannon in Higginsville. To this union six children were born.
Margie and Everett moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1955, and became a member of Mariah Walker A.M.E. Church. The family then moved to Lexington in 1971, and she became a member of Zion A.M.E. Church. At Zion she served as pianist; President of the Gilbert WMS; Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. When Zion closed its doors, she attended Second Baptist Church faithfully until her passing.
Margie was employed with United Telephone Company in Lexington as a switchboard operator, retiring in 1987 as a Customer Service Representative. She was very active in the community of Lexington as a volunteer for the American Red Cross; The American Cancer Society; Election Judge; and The Lexington Housing Authority Board Member.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Rev. Everett W. Hannon, Jr. (Carol), Warrensburg, MO; Perry R. Hannon (Brenda), Independence, MO ; and Philip R. Hannon (Charlene), Baldwin City, KS. Seven grandchildren, Andrae Hannon,(Kristina); Le’Andrea Hannon-Lewis,(Brandon); Garrett Hannon; Andrew Hannon; Aaron Hannon; Annie Hannon; and Asher Hannon. One great grandson, Hayden Hannon; two brothers, James Perry and John Perry, both of Witchita, KS; and one aunt, Lorena Shirley, Kansas City, MO. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three children, a brother, two sisters, stepfather, and stepmother
