Margaret Irene Hopkins was born on April 1, 1931, to James R. Brown and Pearl H. Crowder.
She attended C.C. Hubbard High School where she met Hurley C. Hopkins. They were united in marriage on June 18, 1948. Out of this union James, Margaret, John, David, and Sherri were born.
Irene worked for Swift and J.A. Lamy for over 20 years.
She was a member of Jones Holy Temple Church of God in Christ and True Vine.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking big holiday meals for her family. She loved and was very proud of her Grand and Great-Grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Fannie, Rosie, Naomi, and brother James.
We will miss our mother's loving smile, great sense of humor, and strong devotion to her family. Her legacy will always be: never give up on yourself and trust in God for help and strength.
