Linda Lewis' Obituary
Linda (Linn) Jean Lewis, 77, of Columbia, Missouri, went home to be with her Lord January 23, 2026, in Boonville, Missouri.
Born on December 3, 1948 in Moline, Illinois, Linn was the oldest child of Roy Glenn Lewis and Margaret Jean (Ferguson) Lewis. The family moved back to Trenton, Missouri in 1962, and she graduated from Trenton High School in 1966. Linn went on to attend Trenton Junior College for one year and then transferred to Southwest Baptist College where she graduated in 1970. She moved to North Carolina in the mid-1970s, where she was employed with Nicky Cruz Outreach, an evangelistic Christian Ministry, working with at-risk youth. While in North Carolina, Linn received her master’s degree in education from North Carolina State University. Returning to her home state of Missouri in the late 1970s, Linn worked for the State of Missouri in Warrensburg and Jefferson City before taking employment with Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri, where she worked until her retirement.
From history and drama, to Sunday school and evening ESL classes for college students, Linn always found herself in a teaching role. She was active as a deacon, served in children’s ministry, and sat on many different committees at Memorial Baptist Church over the years. But Linn, who’s greatest joy came from her faith in Jesus Christ, would have said that by far her greatest accomplishment in life was becoming a mother to her daughters, Erin and Blair. Linn always had a smile and a hug for everyone she greeted. In her retirement, she served by pastoring a small church in Versailles, Missouri, and especially loved spending time with her sweet grandchildren.
Linn is survived by her 2 daughters, Erin Dykes (Lance) and Blair Lewis; 7 grandchildren, Emelinn, Kensley, Guthrie, Harlin, Griffin, Kollyns, and Addison; and sister, Ila Morrow (Greg). She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Memorial Baptist Church in Columbia, Missouri from 9:30-10:45am with funeral service following at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mission Fund at Memorial Baptist Church.
