Lillie A. Ray's Obituary
Lillie A. Ray, 74, of New Franklin, died, Monday, November 9, 2009 at Cooper County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday at the H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Boonville. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday at the H.T. May and Son Funeral Home.
Lillie Ann was born November 4, 1935 in New Franklin, Mo. to Claude and Eara Pannell Fulcher. She attended Douglas Grade School in New Franklin and Sumner High School in Boonville, graduating in May 1954. She was united in marriage to Richard T. ” Jack” Ray in September 1954, and to this union a son was born.
Lillie Ann was a member of St. James Baptist Church in New Franklin where she served as pianist. She also served as pianist for Hughes Chapel A.M.E. Church in New Franklin.
Lillie Ann worked in housekeeping In New Franklin for several years. She later worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Boonville Nursing Home, Kemper Military School and College, Rest Haven Nursing Home (two times) , Missouri Training School. Riverdell Care Center,all in Boonville and Golden Hour Retirement Home in New Franklin , from where she retired in 1999.
Survivors include a son Anthony L. Ray of the home in New Franklin, two nieces Mrs. Alfreda Parker of Boonville, and Mrs. Gladys Holmes of Kansas City, Mo., great nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews , cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, The National Kidney Foundation or Howard County Home Health and Hospice.
