Leighton C. Buckner, 60, of Cypress, TX, formerly of Columbia, MO, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Houston Methodist Vintage Hospital in Houston, TX. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Boonville at 11:00 AM, visitation will be from 9:30AM-1045AM Friday at the funeral home. Services will be broadcast on Facebook Live on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM at https://www.facebook.com/htmayfuneralhome.
Leighton Buckner was born December 20, 1960, to Donald Louis and Dianna Nichols-Buckner in Columbia, Missouri. He was the oldest of three children and is preceded in death by his father.
Leighton attended grade school and graduated from Hickman High School, fifth in his class, Columbia, MO. Upon graduation, Leighton entered the United States Marine Corps (USMC). Leighton has always enjoyed watching and playing sports. Leighton also enjoyed fishing and would look for innovative ways to catch fish.
He attended Wright Temple COGIC as a child with his family under the leadership of Dr. Frank Wright, Jr. In 2019 Leighton joined The Restored Church of God and on May 9, 2020, he married Pamela Turner-Buckner, they resided in Cypress, Tx until his death.
Leighton worked as a truck driver for various trucking companies, traveling to many cities and states. Leighton loved family and was known for finding family in any state he was visiting.
Leighton transistioned Friday, June 4, 2021 at Houston Methodist Vintage Hospital in Houston, Texas. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Pamela Buckner, 3 stepchildren and 6 step grandchildren, of Houston, TX, his mother Mrs. Dianna Nichols-Buckner- (Emeritus Superintendent W.T.) Morris, KnobNoster, MO, brother Pastor Donald (Benita) Buckner, St. Louis, MO, sister, Mila (Joseph) Ssekasozi, Columbia, MO, stepbrother Wayne C. Morris, Los Angeles, CA, stepsister Zerita Morris-Slaughter, KnobNoster, MO, niece Janay Buckner, St. Louis and step niece Shannon Slaughter, Arlington, TX, aunt Lena Jones, Columbia, MO, uncle Joseph Nichols, New Franklin, MO great uncle Donnie (Brenda) Petty, Houston, TX along with many cousins, and friends far and near
