Lawrence Eugene Harris Jr. (Ben) was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on September 15, 2022.
Born on May 19, 1950, to Lawrence and Mary (Paige) Harris Sr. in Dalton, Missouri. He was the oldest of ten children.
He married his first wife Barbara Mason in 1994. He was then united in Marriage to Vernice Renee Sanders on May 18, 2002.
Lawrence (Ben) sailed through four careers in Columbia, working at the Columbia Brick Co., University Hospital, Enterprising Leasing and Bob McCosh Auto. His passion was sailing in the ocean fishing. He didn't get to the ocean, but he made it to all the fishing spots in Missouri. If he could have lived on a boat and fish all day that would have made him happy. He was blessed with a gift of a fishing pole that cost $100, boy did that put a smile on his face!
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter Joyce Bradford, two stepsons: Shannon Parker and Nathaniel Sanders, sisters: Janice Palmer (Langford), Delores Turner, Cornelia (William) Hayes Sr, Sandra (Alvin) Sheard Sr., Dondra Vasquez (Gary), Marilyn (John) Marks, extended family member Debbie Jordan, brothers: Walter (Linda) Harris, Wayne (Aleasha) Harris, Delbert Harris (Azele) and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Loved ones who preceded him in death are his wife Vernice Harris, parents Lawrence and Mary Harris, stepfather Clay Hayes Sr., brothers Clay Hayes Jr. Extended family member Darrell Jordan, sisters: Gladys Young, Barbara Kelly, Helen Brown, Mary (Bernice) Warren, nephews Daniel Harris, Darrin Garr and Dajion Harris.
